Tiopronin is a prescription medication used to prevent kidney stones. Tiopronin belongs to a group of drugs called reducing agents. These work by binding to the compound that causes kidney stones and prevent stone formation.

This medication comes in tablet form and is typically taken 3 times a day at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals.
